“Everyone deserves rights to good service” PM Murekezi

Karongi, 30 March 2017

Prime Minister Anastase Murekezi urged all services providers for improvement in service delivery and Rwandans to detest bad services because everyone has the rights to get good service.

Prime Minister made the remarks yesterday, 30th March in Karongi District while launching a 12 weeks National Service Delivery Campaign dubbed Nkuwikorera.

Anastase Murekezi pointed out that getting good service is everyone’s right and the Government of Rwanda committed improvement towards good and quick service delivery in all sectors.

“According to statistics from the National Institute of Statistics, the sector of services generated 48% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2016 and if we improve this sector, the GDP will increase more” said Prime Minister Murekezi.

He commended all leaders especially local leaders to prioritize good service delivery, as they are all equipped with capacities, skills and trainings enough to carry out their tasks.

“I therefore urge all local leaders up to the grassroots level to improve citizens’ outreach and solve their complaints, as they are there to make sure citizens get good services.” PM Murekezi added.

The recent Rwanda Governance Scorecard 2016 revealed that service delivery remains the least ranking indicator standing at 72.93%. This score is far behind the EDPRS II target set to reach 85% by 2018.

This campaign organised by the Rwanda Governance Board intends to foster the culture of quality service delivery and encourage desisting poor services in order to improve service delivery in all institutions including public and private.
