“Government to improve citizens’ access to quality and speedy service ” PM Murekezi

On the 2nd December 2016, while addressing both chambers of Parliament, the Prime Minister Anastase Murekezi said that the Government aims to increase the percentage of citizens who are satisfied with customer service they receive to 85% by 2018.

RGB Rwanda Governance Scorecard 2015 reports that citizens’ satisfaction rate in terms of customer service is at 67.7%. The Government has put in place strategies to increase this rate and improve service delivery up to 85% by 2018”, The Prime Minister said.

Anastase Murekezi further stressed that through various reforms undertaken by the Government, emphasis was put on decentralisation by transferring many services from central government to decentralised entities. 

As for public service management, the Prime Minister said that management of employees from the commencement until the end of employment has been improved. 

This was done in different ways using technology in a bid to recruit competent and effective employees for all public institutions” said the Prime Minister.

Speaking about recruitment and management of public servants, the Prime Minister pointed out that all job requirements have been improved, thus job profiles for the same job positions have been harmonised in all institutions. 

This presentation dwelled on various topics including nature of public service management, key achievements in this sector in the framework of the 7 year-Government Programme (2010-2017), short-term plans to continue to promote this sector, challenges encountered by the public service management sector and strategies to address them. 

Article 133 of the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda of 2003 revised in 2015 provides that on a quaterly basis, the Prime Minister presents before both chambers of Parliament about Government activities.
